Kansas City's Golf Injury to Performance Center

Our Certified Titleist Performance Institute providers utilize the Level 3 TPI Medical system to guide injured golfers from pain to optimal golf performance.
KC Chiro's Golf Evaluation Process
As a golfer, you may experience pain in your golf swing/game due to physical limitations. There is not a brace or cream or other "band-aid" treatment that will help you achieve a pain free round if you lack the physical abilities required by your golf swing.  We offer a Golf Injury to Performance screen that evaluates the strength, flexibility, balance, power, and coordination necessary for your individual golf swing. This assessment helps determine whether inefficiencies/inconsistencies in your golf swing are due to physical limitations.

Physical Screen

  • We incorporate movement screens to help evaluate each player. Fundamental movement screens help identify faulty stability patterns and altered mobility better than isolated musculoskeletal exams.

  • For example, take the following test results:
Tight hip flexors Vs Weak glutes

  • These results are very common, and one could assume that the primary problem here is the tight hip flexors. But most of these people will show a very different result on a functional movement screen.

  • In other words, because the hip flexor is tight, when the player is asked to perform a movement involving hip extension, the glute will show weakness since the over-active hip flexor will actively shut down the glute and recruit synergistic muscles instead. Therefore, the glute must be retrained to engage as well.

Video Analysis

  • During this phase of evaluation, two videos of your golf swing are captured. The first one is from a face-on view. The second is from behind the ball.

  • The purpose of the video analysis is to look for swing faults.  Swing faults are characteristics in a golf swing that could be hindering performance (power/accuracy), or they are injury-producing mechanics.

Power Testing

  • The power test we use is part of the curriculum in TPI's advanced Power and Fitness seminars.

  • Power testing allows you to see where your power numbers stack up against other golfers your age around the world.

  • This provides context and benchmarks as to how powerful you can expect your to swing be at your current age and how it might change as you get older.

  • We often find it to be an eye-opener: that you are really far behind the average golfer your age, or that you are the cream of the crop when it comes to your age group!

Ground Pressure Sensing Mat

  • With pressure analysis, we can identify and isolate the force-time and pressure-time curves for each segment. These are important statistics in understanding how you put force into the ground.

  • Center of pressures is one of the most appreciated features of ground pressure sensing technology. The ability to isolate ground reaction forces and obtain force-time curves for each foot region represents a paradigm shift in performance analysis.

  • From a biomechanical point of view, movement occurs dynamically over time and area, not just in one direction. Analyzing the pressure over area during movement and seeing what part of the foot interacts with the ground can dramatically increase your understanding of how your movement with the ground is related to performance.

3D Motion Capture

  • Using data collected from our 3D motion analysis system (K-Vest), we can look at how golfers generate power and transfer that power throughout their bodies.

  • The most efficient sequence of how golfers generate and transfer this power to the club head has been identified. We call this the “Kinematic Sequence”.

  • This sequence was identified by analyzing the swing of hundreds of professional golfers, and thousands of amateur golfers. The best ball strikers all have remarkably similar kinematic sequences!

  • That means if you compare Ernie Els’ kinematic sequence to Jim Furyk’s kinematic sequence, it would be difficult to tell them apart.
